At dinner one night with a fellow MFAer, who is a true Southerner, I acknowledged that I probably shouldn't be using the southern voice. She agreed with me, and then when I lamented that fact, she said, "but think of it this way, honey. That's all I can write!"<br /><br />ps I also devoured irving and sk in high school. Did you read water method man? It is one of my favorites, but no one has read it.
